1. Where are the pick-up and drop-off points for tours that include transport?
Our offices will be the pickup and drop-off points for transport to and from your tour destination. Our South African office is situated at the Sandton Eye, Cnr West & Rivonia Rd, in Sandton. Our Zimbabwe office is situated at the Smatsatsa Office Park along Borrowdale Rd.
2. Am I able to pay a discounted price if I don’t need transport arrangements for my tour?

3. Do I need to bring cash or are there debit/credit card facilities?
While most of our tour destination have card payment facilities, some local vendors (souvenirs, food) only accept cash. It is also advisable to carry cash for gratuities.
4. Can I book flights and accommodation through African Tourist?
Yes, you can. Contact us on move@africantourist.co.za with your request and our travel agent will gladly assist you.
5. What should I wear on a tour?
- What you wear is dependent on what kind of tour you will be going on; as a general rule we recommend that you prioritise comfort.
- For a safari tour during the summer, we suggest long sleeve breathable fabrics like cotton or linen to stay cool. While you can can wear short sleeves, long sleeves offer a layer of protection from the sun, insects and bushes.
- During the winter, you can wear loose-fitting jeans or fleece joggers with a jacket.
- Closed shoes like trainers or hiking boots are recommended.
- City tours are much more flexible, we recommend you wear your most stylish and comfortable weather-appropriate clothes. The key thing is to wear comfortable walking shoes like sandals or trainers.
6. What should I pack or bring along on a tour?
- Sunscreen, hat and or sunglasses
- Binoculars are a nice to have for better visibility
- Light snacks and a water bottle (optional)
- Spectacles or contact lenses if you wear these.
- A little bit of cash in case you want to buy food, souvenirs or give gratuities
7. Am I allowed to bring a camera or take pictures on a tour?
Yes, you can bring a professional camera or even use your smart phone to take pictures and videos to capture memories on your tour.
8. When is the best time to see Victoria Falls?
If you are wanting to see the Victoria Falls in full flood, then we would recommend going between February to April when the water volume peaks after the summer rains. However, certain activities like visiting and swimming at the Devils pool (on the Zambian side of the falls) are best experienced in the drier season from August to December.
9. When is the best time to go on a safari to see more animals?
Most safaris are best enjoyed during the dry winter months, May to September; rainfall is scarce during these months and animals tend to gather around remaining water sources. Vegetation is also less dense at this time of the year enabling greater visibility.
