African Tourist Terms & Conditions:
EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY:
All persons entering an African Tourist vehicle and/or property owned or controlled by African Tourist do so entirely at their own risk.
African Tourist is not liable for any loss or damages (including consequential or special damages or loss of profits), loss of life, bodily injury, or damage to or loss of property of any nature, whether caused by African Tourist, its directors, officers, employees, agents, or any person acting on behalf of African Tourist. This applies to all situations arising out of or connected with transportation or non-transportation by African Tourist of any passenger or their property.
TICKETS:
A ticket serves as proof of the transportation agreement between African Tourist, the ticket purchaser, and the passenger. The accompanying terms and conditions constitute the entire agreement between the passenger and African Tourist.
A ticket is valid only for the passenger to whom it is issued and for the specified route, date, and time. The passenger must present their unique ticket reference number and appropriate identification at check-in. Special requirements may apply for minor children.
It is the passenger’s responsibility to ensure the accuracy of the information on the ticket. Any alterations may render the ticket invalid.
Passengers are not permitted to split their journey into multiple legs unless separate tickets are issued for each individual journey.
Only tickets purchased from African Tourist or its authorized agents are valid. Tickets obtained from any other source are void, and the bearer has no claim against African Tourist or its representatives for any damages.
Ticket rights and titles are non-transferable. However, tickets may be transferred to another date and time.
For credit card bookings made via African Tourist’s website or call center, the ticket will be automatically canceled unless the cardholder complies with all booking requirements, including presenting the credit card used for purchase and the cardholder’s ID upon boarding or at an African Tourist office at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure.
TICKET CANCELLATIONS AND CHANGES:
Tickets canceled within one hour of purchase, but not within 15 minutes before departure, will be refunded without a cancellation fee.
Tickets purchased within 15 minutes of departure cannot be canceled, and if unused, a 100% cancellation fee applies.
Canceled tickets will be refunded after deducting the applicable cancellation fee.
Any change requires a new ticket to be issued by African Tourist. The fare difference, if any, will be payable, and African Tourist does not guarantee the availability of the same ticket class or reserved seats.
No changes can be made within 15 minutes of departure or after departure. Unused tickets are subject to a 100% cancellation fee.
All ticket changes, including transfers to another date or time, or upgrades, are subject to the applicable change fee.
Tickets changed within one hour of purchase, but not within 15 minutes of departure, will not incur a change fee.
No cancellation fee will be charged for cancellations or changes due to the death or hospitalization of a passenger.
TIMETABLES AND SCHEDULES:
While African Tourist will make all reasonable efforts to adhere to its schedule, it does not guarantee any arrival or departure times and accepts no liability for any loss, damage, or inconvenience caused by delays or cancellations.
African Tourist reserves the right to cancel any service for any reason without prior notice and will not be liable for any resulting loss or damage.
African Tourist endeavors to ensure connections with other transport operators where appropriate but is not liable for any loss or damage due to missed connections.
Passengers must arrive at the departure point 30 minutes before domestic departures and one hour before cross-border departures.
Passengers arriving within 15 minutes of departure time may not be allowed to travel, and the ticket may be subject to cancellation with a 100% cancellation fee. African Tourist will not be liable for any loss or damage resulting from such cancellation.
CHILDREN:
Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over 18 years old.
Children between 12 and 18 years old may travel alone, provided a completed African Tourist indemnity form is submitted by the legal guardian or parent. The passenger is responsible for complying with cross-border requirements for minors.
All minors (under 18) must comply with the South African Immigration Act and accompanying regulations. Non-compliance may result in refusal of transport or border crossing.
Failure to sign an indemnity form or comply with any legal requirements for minors will result in denial of transport.
African Tourist may, but is not obligated to, seek assistance from law enforcement or child protection agencies for minors in distress or denied transport.
African Tourist accepts no liability for any consequences arising from the refusal of transport or border crossing for minors.
Children under 24 months may travel free of charge on the lap of a parent or guardian, with a limit of one child per parent or guardian.
African Tourist may interview any minor or adult without interference from guardians, parents, or other persons, except law enforcement officials, to prevent human trafficking.
African Tourist is committed to preventing human trafficking and will cooperate fully with law enforcement to prevent such activities.
LUGGAGE:
Each fare-paying passenger is permitted two pieces of luggage, each not exceeding 80cm x 60cm x 30cm in size, and a combined weight of 20kg for domestic departures, and 30kg for cross-border departures, free of charge and at own risk.
African Tourist reserves the right to charge an additional fee for luggage exceeding the specified limits.
African Tourist may refuse the carriage of luggage or goods at its discretion.
Passengers must obtain an African Tourist luggage sticker when boarding. Unaccompanied luggage will not be transported.
African Tourist is not liable for any loss, damage, or injury arising from the transportation or non-transportation of persons or goods, including passengers’ luggage, personal effects, or personal safety.
African Tourist does not provide insurance coverage for passengers, their property, or luggage. Passengers should ensure they are adequately insured.
African Tourist does not transport weapons, firearms, explosives, illegal items, hazardous materials, live animals, perishable goods, or corpses. Certain items may be transported with proper packaging and protection.
Large items must be carried in the luggage compartment and loaded by African Tourist employees or agents.
Excess and unusual luggage may be transported via African Tourist’s parcel service at the passenger’s risk, subject to availability and additional charges.
In the event that African Tourist is found liable for any loss, damage, or injury, the total liability is limited to R10,000 for cross-border travelers and R5,000 for domestic travelers.
Each fare-paying passenger is allowed one piece of hand luggage not exceeding 20kg and with a maximum size of 60cm (L) x 40cm (W) x 30cm (H) + 23cm (H). Luggage exceeding these dimensions will be considered normal luggage.
CROSS-BORDER TRAVEL:
Passports are mandatory on all cross-border.
